Hi crew!
After you post your test blog, please post a second blog titled "Crime and Punishment Thought Piece #1." For this blog, I'd like you to pick a quote, concept, theme, idea, or literary device from the first half of the novel-- choose something that sparked your interest-- and discuss how it contributes to the meaning of the work as a whole. Consider: how does Dostoevsky use [this detail] to enrich the quality and meaning of his novel? I'd also like you to address the "SO WHAT?" factor of what you discuss. In other words: why does this matter? Why should we care? How does it relate to the experiences we go through, as young Americans in the 21st century? What might we learn from thinking deeply about these ideas? How does this affect your OWN life? (Don't answer all those questions-- address the JIST of those questions.)
Remember: literature is the key to self-discovery. (I quote myself. Er-- a very cute imposter of myself.)
Shoot for three paragraphs: two paragraphs to discuss your detail for how it informs the work as a whole; one paragraph to discuss the "so what?" factor. It's fine if you go over.
BEFORE YOU DO THAT THOUGH-----!!!!
Comment on this blog with your blog address so we know where to find your thoughts.
And then get writing. :) This will be worth 10 points; you'll be graded on your writing quality (conventions, sentence fluency, etc.) and depth.
Love to you allllllllll! See you Monday!
